The Truth About 6 Pack Abs

By Arnold Swarz

"6 Pack Abs" is a euphemism for having a muscular stomach area. A euphemism for having a large oversized gut is having a "beer belly". I find this strange, since beer often comes in six packs. So, what is the 6-pack abs truth?

There is no magic pill or special diet for obtaining 6-pack abs, and just having good genes and being healthy is not enough. Like anything in life that is worth having, 6-pack abs takes work, and a desire to do what it takes to get them. Beware of fad diets that advertise unrealistic results. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

An important ingredient is 6 pack abs is proper diet. Replace fatty foods like potato chips with healthier foods like fruits and vegetables. Just by doing this, you will have more energy for the work that is ahead of you. Try to cut down

on high calorie drinks like beer and soda pop. Don't go for the second plate at dinnertime, and never, ever, eat anything after you have had your dinner. Calories store up in your body while you are sleeping.

While exercises like walking, running, and weight lifting are good for your overall heath and well-being, to achieve 6-pack abs you will need to concentrate on exercises that work your abdominal area. Don't try to do too much at first. Over exercising can do more harm than good if your body is not used to it. Exercise a little at first, then try to do more the second week, then more the third week and so on. It may take a while, but you will feel yourself getting stronger by the day.

Most importantly, having the proper mind set for obtaining 6-pack abs is essential. Picking the right routine is important, committing to it is imperative. Committing yourself to a proper diet and exercise is not as easy as it looks. Sometimes you will have an overwhelming desire to eat fatty foods. Sometimes you will be tired and you won't want to exercise. Don't fall into the trap of telling yourself that if you put off exercise for one day, you will make up for it the next. Keep your overall goal in mind, but set yourself some small goals along the way. Having 6-pack abs is possible if you have the desire and commitment.
